Stats
Bio
Recruited from the University Blacks in the amateur ranks, Gary Crouch was a tall rover who found senior opportunities scarce during his two seasons at Essendon. While he managed just nine senior appearances—mostly starting as a reserve—he proved his reliability by winning the club's Reserves Most Serviceable Player award in 1969. His footballing career truly flourished after a move west to join Subiaco in the WAFL, where he reinvented himself as a rebounding half-back flanker and played a pivotal role in the Lions' drought-breaking 1973 premiership victory. Crouch eventually returned to country Victoria to become a highly respected figure in the Bendigo Football League, serving as a long-term captain-coach for Sandhurst and regularly skippering the league's interleague representative side.
