Bio
A decorated junior from local club Moonee Ponds, Gary Fitzpatrick arrived at Windy Hill with a strong reputation after winning the EDFL's F.H. Woods Medal. The rover worked his way through the Under 19s and Reserves—winning the latter's valuable services award—before breaking into the senior side late in the 1974 season. Despite showing promise as a goal-kicking small with 10 majors from his 13 appearances, he was unable to cement a permanent spot in the Bombers' lineup and departed the VFL at the end of 1975. After a solitary season in the VFA with Brunswick, Fitzpatrick found significant longevity in Queensland, where he became a fixture for Mayne over nine seasons before finishing his playing days as captain-coach of Banyo.
