Stats
Bio
Recruited from Alvie in the Colac district, Gary Williamson was an exceptionally tall ruckman for his era, standing 198cm and using his significant reach advantage to control centre bounces. Despite a lightly-built frame that sometimes made contested work difficult against heavier opponents, his tap work was highly rated and he played a key role in Richmond's 1962 Night Series premiership victory. After four seasons at Punt Road, he crossed to South Melbourne in 1965 for a final VFL campaign, playing just enough matches to reach the 50-game milestone before departing the league. Williamson ultimately left his greatest mark on the game in the Ovens & Murray League with Wodonga, where he became a local legend, winning the Morris Medal and multiple premierships as the region's dominant big man.
