Stats
Bio
Recruited from Mentone Juniors following a premiership and best-and-fairest juvenile campaign, Gavin Hoare was a rover and wingman who found opportunities limited during his brief stint at Punt Road. Standing just 175cm, he debuted against Collingwood in mid-1952 but struggled to cement a regular spot in the senior lineup, managing only eight games across two seasons before departing the VFL. While his league career was short-lived, Hoare forged a decorated legacy in regional Victoria, winning a premiership and best-and-fairest with Rutherglen in the Ovens & Murray League before captaining Hamilton to back-to-back flags in the Western District. Off the field, he achieved significant distinction as an academic, earning a Doctorate in Psychology from Indiana University and serving as a senior lecturer until his passing in 1992.
