Bio
Recruited locally from Essendon High School, Geoff Blethyn remains a unique figure in Windy Hill history, instantly recognisable during his playing days for wearing spectacles while leading the attack. A natural full-forward with a reliable set shot, Blethyn carved his name into the record books during a standout 1972 campaign where he booted 107 goals, becoming the first Bomber since John Coleman to reach the century mark in a single season. Despite this dominance, his time in the VFL was interrupted by a move to the SANFL to play for Port Adelaide following a contract dispute at the height of his powers. He returned to Essendon for one final season in 1976, ultimately finishing his career as a highly efficient scorer whose prolific peak remains one of the most memorable individual seasons in the club's history.
