Bio
Recruited from VFA club Sandringham, Geoff "Percy" Brokenshire was a mature-age prospect whose arrival on the VFL scene was delayed by his service as a Flight Lieutenant in the RAAF during World War II. He finally debuted for Collingwood in 1948 at age 26, presenting as a strong forward who immediately impacted the scoreboard with 19 goals in his first season. Despite this promising start, Brokenshire crossed to arch-rivals Carlton the following year, where he provided experience and a solid 183cm frame to the Blues' forward line. While he struggled to cement a permanent senior position at Princes Park—highlighted by a massive 11-goal haul in the reserves in 1950—he remained a capable finisher when called upon. His VFL career was relatively brief, concluding after just three seasons, but he holds the distinction of representing both of the league's fiercest enemies in the post-war era.
