Recruited from VFA club Box Hill, Geoff Bryant was a classy wingman whose VFL career was sparked by a standout performance on Harry Beitzel’s famous "Galahs" World Tour in 1968. He made an immediate impact at North Melbourne, claiming the Best First Year Player award in 1969 and finishing fifth in the Syd Barker Medal count the following season. Known for his elite kicking skills and running capacity, Bryant was a key drive in the midfield before injury and a falling out with coach Brian Dixon soured his 1971 campaign. He returned to the VFA the following year, where he solidified his legacy as a competition great, winning two J. Field Medals and later captaining Box Hill.
