Bio
Recruited from the amateur ranks at Caulfield Grammarians, Geoff Grover was a tall, athletic defender who made his VFL debut in 1964 as a replacement for the injured Verdun Howell. His brief two-game stint with the Saints was cut short by logistics rather than form; when the club relocated its training base to Moorabbin the following season, Grover found the travel incompatible with his employment at General Motors Holden and accepted a clearance to the VFA. He subsequently forged a stellar career with Port Melbourne, playing 119 games and starring in three consecutive Grand Finals between 1965 and 1967. A dashing full-back known for the distinctive quirk of handballing with his left hand but kicking with his right, he represented the VFA at the 1966 Carnival before finishing his career as captain-coach of Ferntree Gully.
