Stats
Bio
A mature-age recruit with a complicated pathway to the top level, Geoff McInnes started in the Melbourne seconds before establishing himself as a key forward for Port Melbourne in the VFA. After Port Melbourne deferred his transfer application three times, the 185cm half-forward finally gained his clearance to return to the Demons in 1932, making an immediate impact by booting three goals on debut against South Melbourne. Despite this promising start, he struggled to cement a regular senior spot, with his 1933 campaign memorable primarily for a pre-season incident where he played just the first quarter of a practice match before rushing off to attend his own wedding. He crossed to St Kilda midway through that season but managed only three senior appearances in 1934 before returning to the VFA. While his VFL career was brief, McInnes later flourished as a genuine star for Brunswick, topping the association's goalkicking table with 84 majors in 1937.
