Bio
Beginning his career at Victoria Park, Geoff Miles was a versatile utility who struggled to cement a permanent position during a turbulent period for Collingwood in the early 1980s. After leaving the Magpies, he revitalised his prospects in the WAFL with Claremont, a move that perfectly positioned him for West Coast’s entry into the national competition. Miles became an inaugural Eagle in 1987 and established himself as a key figure in the club's formative years, best known as a dashing half-back flanker who generated run and carry from the defensive 50.
His consistency out west saw him miss very few games during the Eagles' first three seasons, playing an important role in stabilising a young list against hardened VFL opposition. However, as West Coast developed into a premiership force, Miles returned to Victoria for a final stint with Geelong in 1992. Recruited to add experienced depth to the Cats' list, he managed just two senior appearances in his final season before retiring, concluding a career that successfully bridged the gap between the traditional suburban VFL and the modern national era.
