Recruited from Leeton in the New South Wales Riverina, Geoff Neil was a diminutive wingman who stood just 166cm. A pacy outside runner with an eye for goal, he quickly established himself in the St Kilda lineup during the early 1930s. His presence in the side alongside the towering ruckman Harold Neill often amused commentators, who played on the sheer physical contrast between the two unrelated namesakes. Neil's promising League career ended prematurely after just three seasons when he was forced to return home to the country to support his family following his father's illness.
