Recruited from Echuca East, Geoff "Tex" Rosenow was a rugged defender and occasional ruckman who became a fixture of the Geelong backline throughout the 1960s. His early career was defined by a significant near-miss; after breaking into the senior side in 1962, a broken thumb forced him to watch Geelong's 1963 premiership victory from the sidelines. Despite this early heartbreak, he rebounded to establish himself as one of the most durable players in the league, using his physical strength and marking power to lock down a spot in the defensive 50.

Rosenow was an uncompromising competitor who never shied away from the physical aspects of the game, a trait that helped him string together an impressive 100 consecutive games between 1965 and 1970. He finally reached the biggest stage in 1967, playing in the Cats' narrow Grand Final loss to Richmond. A police officer by trade, his VFL career concluded when a work transfer moved him to the country, where he went on to enjoy a successful tenure as captain-coach of Wangaratta in the Ovens & Murray League and later Mordialloc in the VFA.
