Stats
Bio
Recruited from Norwood, Geoff Smith was a nimble rover and small forward who played a supporting role during Hawthorn's ascent to power in the early 1970s. Standing just 175cm, he relied on his agility and goal sense to make an impact, enjoying a breakout season in 1970 where he played 18 games and booted 21 goals as a dangerous option near the sticks. Despite his solid form that year, Smith found it difficult to retain a regular spot in the senior side as the Hawks developed into a premiership force, facing stiff competition from the club's emerging superstar smalls. He managed seven games during the historic 1971 season but ultimately missed selection for the Grand Final victory over St Kilda. Smith added just four more appearances in 1972 before his VFL career concluded, remembered as a capable contributor who provided valuable depth during a golden era for the club.
