Bio
Recruited from Warrnambool in the Hampden Football League, Geoff Umbers was a solidly built utility who earned his opportunity at VFL level during the mid-1950s. Standing 180cm, he joined Geelong in the wake of the club's celebrated premiership dynasty, facing the difficult task of breaking into a senior lineup that still retained many established stars from the 1951 and 1952 flags. Umbers managed seven appearances across two seasons, contributing two goals and providing a physical presence, but found regular selection elusive in a strong squad. He departed Kardinia Park at the end of 1956, returning to western Victoria where he resumed his footballing life away from the intense competition of the League.
