Bio
Recruited from Ringwood, Geoffrey Parker was a gifted dual-sportsman who juggled a promising football career with elite cricket duties. A skilful half-forward and centreman, he faced the difficult task of breaking into a powerhouse Essendon midfield during the late 1980s while simultaneously captaining the Australian Under-19 cricket team. Although he claimed the Reserves Best and Fairest in 1987, Parker managed just a single senior appearance that year before prioritising his duties with the willow. He briefly recommitted to the Bombers in 1989, rejecting a cricketing offer in England to add two final games to his tally, but eventually transitioned to first-class cricket with Victoria and South Australia. While his on-field impact at Windy Hill was limited, Parker forged a lasting legacy in football administration, later becoming the long-serving National Recruiting Manager for Port Adelaide, where he was instrumental in drafting the core of their modern list.
