Bio
Recruited from the Tasmania Devils with the first selection in the 2024 Mid-Season Rookie Draft, Geordie Payne arrived at North Melbourne as a versatile prospect who had reinvented his game to earn an AFL lifeline. Originally an intercepting defender, the Burnie native transformed himself into a dynamic forward-midfielder in the Coates Talent League after being overlooked in the 2023 National Draft. Known for his aggressive tackling and high-pressure style, Payne spent his first 12 months developing in the reserves before breaking into the Kangaroos' senior side late in the 2025 season. He played the final three games of the year, booting a goal on debut against GWS, but was delisted following the season's conclusion and subsequently returned home to join Tasmania's VFL program.
