Stats
Bio
George Ashman was a local recruit from Clifton Hill who earned a brief opportunity in Collingwood's forward line during the 1901 season. A smaller attacker standing just 173cm, he made the most of his debut by kicking a goal in a Round 9 victory over arch-rivals Carlton. He retained his spot for the subsequent clashes against South Melbourne and Melbourne, but after the team suffered consecutive defeats, he fell out of favour with the selection committee. Ashman did not feature in the Magpies' finals campaign that year, with his VFL career concluding after those three mid-season appearances.
