Bio
A prolific local talent recruited from the Balmain Church of Christ, George Bayliss established himself as Richmond's first genuine VFL spearhead. Possessing a booming left-foot kick and renowned for his intelligent leading patterns rather than aerial dominance, he created history in 1920 as the first Tiger to win the VFL Leading Goalkicker award. Although illness cruelly ruled him out of the club's maiden flag that year, Bayliss returned to taste premiership success in 1921, topping the club's goalkicking list for three consecutive seasons. He later crossed to Footscray, adding veteran experience to the Bulldogs' forward line during their inaugural VFL season in 1925.
