Bio
Recruited from Exeter in the South Australian amateur ranks, Halcombe "George" Brock established himself as a premiership ruckman with Port Adelaide before his career was cut short by the Second World War. A Western District native originally from Merino, Brock relocated to Victoria after enlisting in the RAAF, where he was granted a permit to play for North Melbourne while stationed at a local flying training school. Standing 189cm, he was a physically imposing figure who notably played his short VFL stint with his head heavily plastered, the lingering result of a severe car accident in Adelaide the previous year. His time at Arden Street was tragically brief; after just four senior appearances, he was killed in a mid-air collision near the You Yangs during a training exercise on the very morning he had been selected to play against Richmond.
