Bio
Recruited from the VFA powerhouse Port Melbourne, George Deas arrived at the Lakeside Oval looking to emulate the success of his older brothers, Jack and 1909 premiership star Bob Deas. A capable forward who knew where the goals were, Deas joined South Melbourne during a strong era for the club, which contested finals in both of his seasons on the list. He showed promise by booting three goals in his four senior appearances, but the depth and quality of the lineup made breaking into the starting eighteen a difficult task. Ultimately, Deas served as a backup option for the Southerners before departing the VFL scene, leaving a brief legacy as the third member of his family to don the red and white.
