Recruited from Preston in the VFA, George Doull arrived at Corio Oval in 1904 and quickly established himself as a durable fixture in the Geelong lineup. Operating primarily as a wingman and half-forward, he was a consistent ball-winner known for his reliability rather than flashiness, missing very few matches during his eight-season tenure. Doull’s career unfortunately coincided with a lean era for the Pivotonians, as the club failed to reach the finals in any of his seasons, consistently finishing mid-to-lower table. Despite the team's lack of success, he remained a loyal servant and a staple of the starting eighteen, falling just four games short of a century when he hung up his boots at the end of 1911.
