Bio
A mature-age recruit from the country, George Dykes joined North Melbourne from Seymour in the Waranga and North-East Association. He arrived at Arden Street as a 25-year-old and broke into the senior side during the 1929 season, though he found it difficult to command a regular spot in the lineup. His brief VFL tenure spanned just two seasons and eight games, a period in which the Shinboners struggled near the foot of the ladder. Unable to cement a permanent role in the side, he drifted out of the league following the 1930 season, serving as a depth player during the club's difficult formative years in the competition.
