Bio
Born in Charlton, George Elliott began his VFL career with a brief stint at Fitzroy in 1905 before finding his true home with University. He joined the Students for their inaugural league season in 1908 while pursuing a medical degree, quickly establishing himself as a reliable defender who provided stability in a side often outmatched by professional opposition. A natural leader on and off the field, Elliott captained the club during the 1911 and 1912 seasons, holding the backline together with a disciplined, defensive-first approach that yielded just three goals over his career. After retiring in 1913 to focus on his medical practice, he enlisted for service in World War I and was tragically killed in action at Polygon Wood in 1917, remaining one of the most revered figures in the short history of the University Football Club.
