Bio
Recruited from Port Rovers, George Green arrived at Victoria Park in 1903 and immediately found himself part of a powerhouse Collingwood outfit that was fresh off a premiership. The wingman enjoyed a charmed start to his VFL career, playing in 13 consecutive victories during his debut season, yet he suffered the cruel misfortune of missing the finals series where the Magpies secured back-to-back flags. While he missed out on that ultimate success, Green remained a fixture in the side's engine room for several years, eventually getting his chance on the big stage during the 1905 Grand Final, though the Pies fell short against Fitzroy. He departed the club after the 1908 season and later returned to the field in a different capacity, serving as a VFL boundary umpire who officiated in the 1918 Grand Final.
