Bio
Born in South Melbourne, George Leggett arrived at the Geelong Football Club via an academic rather than a traditional sporting pathway. A graduate of the University of Tasmania, he moved to the region to accept a position as a master at Geelong Grammar School, where his local standing and athletic background earned him a trial with the VFL side. Leggett made just two senior appearances for the Pivotonians during the 1906 season, serving as a brief reinforcement for a struggling team that finished second-last on the ladder. While his football career was fleeting and he failed to register a goal, Leggett left a more enduring mark off the field as a respected schoolteacher and historian, later authoring works on local history and serving as a foundation member of the Shiplovers' Society.
