Bio
A mature-age recruit who arrived at South Melbourne via the VFA, George Lucas played a brief cameo at the top level in the immediate post-war period. Originally catching the eye as a promising junior with Hampton Rovers, he spent his early senior career with Brighton before finally breaking into the VFL side in 1947. He debuted at age 26 and made four appearances, managing to kick a goal, but struggled to cement a regular place in the team. His stint at the Lake Oval was ultimately fleeting, as he requested a clearance to Casterton midway through his only season, choosing to continue his football journey in the country leagues rather than fighting for a spot in the Bloods' lineup.
