Bio
Born in Bendigo and recruited from Coburg, George Marsh—recently identified by club historians as "Mungo" George Marsh—was a talented rover and half-forward who made a brief but sharp impact at Collingwood in 1905. Arriving mid-season, the clever junior immediately impressed with his goal sense and ground work, performing well enough to briefly displace star Dick Condon from the roving role. Marsh played seven games for the Magpies, including the Semi-Final loss to Carlton, but was ultimately omitted from the Grand Final side in favour of a more experienced lineup. He later forged a successful career in the VFA with Brunswick and Coburg before serving on the Western Front during World War I, where he captained his battalion's football team.
