Bio
Recruited from Corowa in the Riverina, George McInnes was an imposing ruckman and key position prospect whose VFL career was largely defined by the formidable depth of the Tom Hafey era. Standing 193cm and weighing nearly 100kg, McInnes possessed the physical tools to compete at the highest level but found himself stuck behind established stars like Neville Crowe and Mike Green in the Tigers' pecking order. While he managed only 16 senior appearances between 1968 and 1970, he became a stalwart of the reserves, anchoring the 1966 reserves premiership side and capping his time at Punt Road with the 1970 reserves Best and Fairest. Seeking greater on-field opportunities, McInnes departed Victoria in 1971 to captain-coach Wynyard in Tasmania before enjoying a solid four-year stint with North Adelaide in the SANFL.
