Stats
Bio
Recruited from West Coburg, George Moloney progressed through the Essendon Under-19s before breaking into the senior lineup in 1958. Operating primarily as a half-forward flanker, he demonstrated handy goal sense with 25 majors from his 27 appearances, though he mostly served as a depth player and struggled to lock down a permanent position in the starting eighteen. His time at the top level was cut short when a severe knee injury sustained in a reserves match in 1962 forced his premature retirement. Moloney maintained a strong connection to football after his playing days, officiating as a reserves umpire and later coaching amateur sides including North Old Boys and Old Xaverians.
