Bio
Recruited from the Rose of Northcote junior club, George O'Connor entered the VFL at the centre of a bizarre selection tug-of-war in 1910. Both Richmond and Melbourne named the 173cm prospect in their sides for the same round, but O'Connor ultimately chose the Tigers, debuting against Essendon. A diminutive forward or rover, he managed two goals in his brief three-game stint at Punt Road before crossing to St Kilda mid-way through the 1911 season in search of greater opportunity. He added just two senior appearances for the Saints and could not establish a permanent place in the lineup, with his life later cut tragically short when he passed away in 1921 at the age of 29.
