Bio
George "Leo" Rankine was a dual-sport athlete from Warrnambool who made a fleeting appearance during Richmond's inaugural VFL season. A district cricketer who represented both the University and Richmond clubs, he broke into the Tigers' senior side midway through 1908, making his debut in a Round 11 victory over University before playing his second and final game against Fitzroy the following week. Unable to consolidate a regular spot in the lineup, Rankine's top-level football career ended almost as quickly as it began, and he later relocated to South Australia where he spent decades working as a government stock inspector in Murray Bridge.
