Bio
Recruited from VFA club Hawthorn, George Rudolph was a imposing utility whose physical dominance and versatility made him the boyhood idol of future Legend Jack Dyer. After a brief three-game stint in 1922 followed by a spell in country football, Rudolph returned to Punt Road in 1924 as a fully formed contested beast, capable of controlling games from centre half-forward, centre half-back, or the ruck. He was renowned for his spectacular high marking and a fiery temperament that frequently drew the ire of umpires, resulting in numerous suspensions throughout his career. A key figure in Richmond's unsuccessful 1927 and 1928 Grand Final sides, he represented Victoria five times before controversially defecting to Oakleigh in 1929 without a clearance, a move that ended his League career but launched a successful tenure in the VFA.
