Bio
Recruited from the Moe Football Club in the Latrobe Valley, George Savige was a mid-sized prospect who earned a brief opportunity with Footscray during the 1962 season. While his VFL career was limited to just four senior appearances without a goal, he carved out a significant tenure in the VFA after crossing to Williamstown in 1963. A capable centreman who could push forward and impact the scoreboard, Savige quickly adapted to the association competition, winning Williamstown's best first-year player award and featuring in the club's 1964 Grand Final side. He remained a key contributor for the Seagulls through the mid-1960s, playing over 70 games and topping the club's goalkicking table in 1966 before departing to coach Foster the following year.
