Bio
Born in Glasgow and recruited from Collegians, George Sutherland etched his name into St Kilda folklore with a stunning debut in the opening round of the 1900 season. Joining a team that had gone winless through the first three years of the VFL competition, the full-forward booted three goals in his first senior game to help pilot the Saints to their historic maiden victory against Melbourne. He served as a rare focal point in attack during that breakthrough year, finishing as the club's leading goalkicker with 13 majors. Sutherland played just one more season at Junction Oval, ending his brief career as a central figure in one of the club's most significant early milestones.
