Bio
Born Kimjue Sing to a Cantonese father and English mother, George Tansing was a pioneering figure as only the second player of Chinese heritage to appear in the VFL. Recruited from local side East Geelong after displaying consistent form, he made his senior debut in 1908 during a difficult season for the club. Tansing operated as a clever rover and small forward, noted by contemporaries for his sharp work at ground level and ability to snap goals under pressure. Although his top-level career was limited to a brief five-game stint in which he booted two goals, he returned to the local leagues to forge a significant legacy, becoming the first Chinese-Australian to captain a mainstream football team and leading East Geelong to back-to-back premierships.
