Bio
Recruited from the local Collingwood District side, George Tatham was a diminutive rover and small forward who faced the difficult task of breaking into the Magpies' lineup immediately following their historic four-premiership "Machine" era. Standing just 171cm, he showed significant promise in his debut season in 1931, booting 15 goals and holding his spot for the Semi Final, but he ultimately missed selection for the Grand Final side that fell to Geelong. Unable to cement a permanent place in the senior side over the subsequent two seasons, Tatham crossed to the VFA with Camberwell, where he became a productive regular until a disciplinary dispute precipitated a move to Mordialloc prior to his service in the Second World War.
