Bio
Originating from Williamstown, George Valentine’s early football ambitions were delayed by service commitments during the First World War. He eventually established himself in the VFA with Footscray before crossing to the VFL to join Richmond in 1924. Operating primarily through the centre and on the wing, Valentine was a reliable link player who saved his finest performance for the finals, notably being named the Tigers' best player in their 1924 semi-final victory over South Melbourne. After three seasons at Punt Road, he returned to the Western Oval in 1927 to finish his career with Footscray, who had since joined the VFL, providing valuable experience to the side during their formative years in the major competition.
