Bio
Recruited from Coburg, George Walker was a solid defender whose career was defined by significant interruptions and an abrupt conclusion. After debuting in 1914, his first season was cut short by a disqualification for making an unauthorised appearance for his former local club, before his development was further stalled when Melbourne went into recess during the First World War. He returned to the field in 1919 and performed well enough across half-back to earn state selection for Victoria, a bright spot during a winless campaign for the Demons. However, his tenure at the top level ended swiftly in 1921; shifted to full-back against Collingwood, he endured a nightmare performance and was immediately dropped, leaving him stranded on 49 senior games without ever returning to the side.
