Bio
Recruited from VFA club Oakleigh, George Watson joined Fitzroy during the disruptive 1942 season when the Association competition was in recess due to the Second World War. With League clubs scrambling to fill lists depleted by military enlistments, Watson crossed over to play four senior games for the Maroons. He showed immediate promise as a scoring option, booting three goals during his brief stint at the top level. His time at Brunswick Street was ultimately short-lived, serving as a classic example of the talented Association footballers who stepped in to keep the VFL running during the war years.
