Bio
Recruited from the Collingwood VFA side, George Williams holds a permanent place in history as the club's full-back in their inaugural VFL match against St Kilda in 1897. A reliable and disciplined defender who prioritised stopping his opponent over offensive output, he anchored the Magpie defence during the league's formative seasons and never registered a goal across his five-year tenure. Williams remained a key structural component of the side as they established themselves as a powerhouse, culminating his career after playing in the 1901 Grand Final loss to Essendon.
