Bio
Recruited from Ararat in the Wimmera, Gerald "Gerry" Brennan was a diminutive rover and forward pocket who arrived at the Lake Oval in the late 1950s. Standing just 173cm, he managed to break into the South Melbourne senior side for four games in 1958, hitting the scoreboard early in his career to demonstrate his potential as a crumbing option. However, he struggled to command a regular spot in the senior 22, spending the entire 1959 season out of the side before managing three final appearances in 1960. While his VFL tenure was brief, Brennan became a celebrated sporting figure in the Grampians region upon his return to country football, remembered locally as a gifted all-round journeyman who excelled in both cricket and football long after his stint in the big league.
