Bio
Recruited from Hughesdale, Gerald Collins was a 191cm ruckman who broke into the Richmond senior side midway through the 1952 season. After debuting in Round 13 against Fitzroy, he retained his spot for the final seven games of the year but struggled to cement a permanent place in the lineup during 1953, eventually departing the VFL with just 12 appearances. While his time at Punt Road was brief, Collins forged a formidable reputation in the VFA after crossing to Oakleigh in 1954. He became a dominant figure for the Devils over seven seasons, winning the club's Best and Fairest and a premiership in 1960, while also proving his quality against the competition's best by finishing third in the J.J. Liston Trophy count on two separate occasions.
