Bio
Recruited from Napier Imperials and the Melbourne VFA side, Gerald O'Dwyer was a mature-age debutant who played his solitary VFL season for Carlton in 1900. Standing 180cm, he slotted into the defensive unit and proved to be a durable contributor, playing 16 games in a year where the Blues struggled for consistency. While he failed to trouble the scorers, O'Dwyer was a constant presence in the side throughout the home-and-away season and the sectional rounds, providing stability in the back half. His time at the top level was brief, and his life was tragically cut short when he passed away in 1908 at just 35 years of age.
