Bio
Recruited from Dunnstown in the Ballarat region, Gerard Cahir was a towering key forward prospect who made his VFL debut for St Kilda just days before his 18th birthday in 1977. Standing 192cm, he provided a significant physical presence in attack, but struggled to cement a regular spot in the senior side during a tumultuous era for the club. His career was marked by long absences from the top level; after sporadic appearances in 1977 and 1979, he spent three full seasons in the reserves before earning a solitary final recall in 1983. Ultimately, Cahir served as a depth player during the Saints' lean years, managing just 11 games over seven seasons before departing the league.
