Bio
Recruited from Derrinallum in Victoria's Western District, Gerard FitzGerald arrived at Geelong as a tall forward prospect during the 1977 season. His brief three-game tenure at senior level was highlighted by a solitary breakout performance against Hawthorn at Princes Park, where he booted three goals in just his second VFL appearance. While his time as a player at the elite level was fleeting, "Fitzy" ultimately left a gigantic footprint on Victorian football as a coach, transitioning from country leagues to become the VFL's all-time record holder for games coached and the architect of North Ballarat’s historic premiership dynasty.
