Bio
A Western Australian talent with a strong footballing pedigree, Gerry Bahen is best remembered as a South Fremantle legend despite his brief cameo at North Melbourne. The son of Subiaco great Clem Bahen, he initially moved to Victoria for employment and was spotted playing for Mentone in the Federal League before North Melbourne added him to their list in 1951. While he played just one season in the VFL, his return to the West sparked a brilliant career as a key defender; he became a linchpin of South Fremantle’s golden era, anchoring the backline in three consecutive premierships from 1952 to 1954 and representing Western Australia at state level.
