Bio
Born in the rural town of Warrenheip, Gerry Britt was a firefighter by trade who carved out a unique place in history as one of North Melbourne's "Original Shinboners." He initially represented North in the VFA before crossing to Williamstown in 1924 to play in a Grand Final, but he was drawn back to Arden Street midway through 1925 to bolster the club's inaugural VFL squad. Making his debut in Round 10, Britt was a selfless utility who played a serviceable role until a broken wrist interrupted his first season. He remained a regular fixture throughout 1926 before eventually returning to the Seagulls, where his reputation as a team-first footballer was cemented when he was awarded a trophy for being the club's "most unselfish player."
