Stats
Bio
A diminutive recruit from Sandringham in the VFA, Gil Cartwright stood just 165cm but proved to be a dangerous option near goal during his brief stint at Glenferrie Oval. Playing as a roving forward, he made an immediate impact in the 1938 season, booting 12 goals in just seven appearances—a strike rate that hinted at significant potential at the top level. Despite his high productivity and ability to hit the scoreboard in a struggling side, his VFL career was limited to that single season before he eventually returned to the Association, where he remained a prolific scorer for the Zebras until the early 1940s.
