Bio
Recruited from the Wangaratta Rovers in the Ovens & King Football League, Gil Patrick arrived at Footscray in 1929 and made an immediate, startling impression. He produced a standout performance in his debut match against North Melbourne in Round 3, being named his side's best player and appearing to have a bright future at the elite level. Despite this high-quality start, his VFL career was surprisingly fleeting; he managed just three senior appearances and a single goal before crossing to Northcote in the VFA later that same year. Patrick’s football journey was subsequently overshadowed by his service in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II.
