A foundation recruit from East Perth, Glen Bartlett was a key position utility who holds a unique place in West Coast history as a member of the club's inaugural squad. Standing at 195cm, he was capable of holding down key posts at either end of the ground, primarily utilized as a rugged defender during his brief stint at VFL level. Although he only managed four senior games in 1987 before being delisted, his off-field contribution to the new franchise was recognized when he was named the Eagles' Best Clubman in their first season. Bartlett returned to the WAFL and flourished as a dominant full-forward, captaining the Royals and winning the Bernie Naylor Medal as the league's leading goalkicker in 1990. He was later drafted by the Brisbane Bears but declined the move to remain in Perth, eventually transitioning into a high-profile legal career that saw him return to the AFL landscape as the President of the Melbourne Football Club.
